1. DON'T: Theme Park Rides
Good news—you can visit a theme park while you’re pregnant.
Bad news – there won’t be much that’s safe for you to ride.
Bumper cars are, by their nature, dangerous. Hitting against the steering wheel might result in bleeding or placental abruption. And roller coasters can exert up to 2.7Gs of force—like a fighter jet breaking the sound barrier—and that is stress on the placental tissue and on your cardiovascular system that the fetus does not need, particularly in the second and third trimesters. In fact, experts are concerned with any rides that have rapid starts and stops. The action might create additional force in the uterus that can disrupt the fetus and placenta.
If you do end up in an amusement park while pregnant, enjoy the view from the Ferris wheel or grab a ring on the carousel!
