Video Description:Did you know that your baby's amniotic fluid is replaced every two days? This is good news, because by week 31 of pregnancy, he or she will be releasing about two cups of urine into that liquid home! For more, check out this fetal development video.Transcript:One of your baby’s activities at 31 weeks? Releasing several cups of urine into his or her amniotic fluid each day. This may sound a little weird to you. After all, your little one also swallows amniotic fluid to MAKE that urine. But don’t worry-your baby’s liquid home is fully replaced several times a day. In fact, your doctor will measure your levels of amniotic fluid during routine ultrasounds. An excess of fluid, called polyhydramnios, may mean that your baby isn’t swallowing properly, or that he or she is experiencing a gastrointestinal obstruction. Too little fluid, or oligohydramnios, meanwhile, could indicate a problem with the kidneys or urinary tract. Luckily, these conditions are fairly rare! In other baby news, your little one is preparing for a last major growth spurt before birth. This week, your baby measures 16 inches and weighs about 3.3 pounds, about weight of four navel oranges. Your little one is continuing to put on fat, the skin is becoming smoother, and he or she is probably kicking up a storm. If these acrobatic antics keep you up at night, take heart: An active baby is a healthy baby! This is also an opportunity to prepare yourself for your baby’s natural rhythms. Check back in next week for your baby development video update.Category:Fetal Development/Month 8Tags:31 weeks, fetus at thirty one weeks, fetal development week 31, fetal development week thirty one, week thirty one of pregnancy, week 31 of pregnancy, pregnancy month 8, pregnancy month eight, pregnancy video, pregnancy week by week, pregnancy by week, week by week, fetal development, fetal development video, baby development, baby urine, fetal urine, polyhydramnios, oligohydramnios
