Grab a healthy-sized squash during week 29 of pregnancy and picture your baby's body! But growth isn't the only change in his or her fetal development now. Learn more about what's up with your little one in this video.

Fetal Development

......

span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 12px;">Your baby’s calcium requirements increase in the third trimester; your little one will soak up 250 milligrams EVERY DAY! Calcium is deposited in your baby’s ever hardening skeleton.  This nutrient is so vital that your baby will leach calcium from YOUR bones if you don’t meet calcium demands with your food intake! Foods like broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables, whole sesame seeds, and dairy are good sources of this important nutrient. If you don’t think you’re getting enough in your diet, talk to your clinician about supplementation. All of this bone development should mean a continuous increase in kicks, jabs, and even little punches this week. If you notice a DECREASE in movement, however, your doctor will recommend counting your baby’s movements. A healthy fetus should be moving at least ten times per hour. Your baby continues to grow during your 29th week, weighing in at a butternut squash’s two and a half pounds, and measuring 15 inches from tip to toe. Additionally, those muscles, lungs and immune system continue to mature during this week. Want to know what’s next on your baby’s development schedule? Check back right here for your 30th week video update.
