Video Description:During month 5 of your pregnancy, a sonogram can tell you if you're having a boy or girl! You may be eating everything in sight - but that's normal. You're now at the midpoint of your second trimester - 20 weeks pregnant!Transcript:As you enter the half-way point of your pregnancy, you may notice some mild effects, but considering your baby’s rapid growth this month, you’d be amazed that you don’t feel even more! By the end of your twentieth week, your baby will weigh about 10 ounces and be around six and a half inches long…officially the size of a small cantaloupe! Your little gymnast is now equipped to do cartwheels! Arms and legs that are at last proportionate to the body, combined with new bone growth, give your baby the ability to kick and stretch in your belly. At last, you’ll likely experience quickening, which is the ability to feel those fetal movements! During the end of your fifth month, your baby will also begin to develop a protective “coating” called vernix caseosa. This “varnish” is made up of your baby’s downy hair, oil and dead skin cells. It may sound a little unappetizing, but the vernix protects your baby’s thin skin from the amniotic fluid that surrounds it. Two particularly neat things happen this month: The first is that your little individual will actually develop his or her own unique fingerprints. By week twenty, if you’re having a little boy, his testicles will begin to descend. A baby girl’s uterus will be fully formed this week, and she’ll have developed eggs in her ovaries. All of this development means that if you want to know your baby’s sex, an ultrasound exam should be able to tell you what color to paint the nursery! So much rapid growing is hard work, and your baby is hungry. That means that you’re probably hungry too, and eating everything in sight! While it’s good to eat more when you’re pregnant, remember that moderation is key. You don’t ACTUALLY get to eat for two, because your baby IS only the size of a cantaloupe! During month five, you’re probably also starting to experience pain in your back and cramping in your legs that gets worse at night. Doctors aren’t sure exactly where those nighttime leg cramps come from, but the back pain is often caused by a shift in the uterus that pulls your lower back forward. Isn’t it about time pregnancy caused a GOOD change in your body? You’ll probably have noticed that your hair and nails look great! You can thank your increased circulation for bringing more nutrients to these areas, but, unfortunately, those lustrous locks and long nails will probably disappear once your baby makes his or her debut. By the end of month five you’re halfway to your due date. Day-by-day your baby is becoming a real little person and you’re doing just great at housing him or her while that happens!Category:Fetal Development/Month 5Tags:17 weeks pregnant, 18 weeks pregnant, 19 weeks pregnant, 20 weeks pregnant, amniocentesis, baby development, boy or girl, during pregnancy, effects of pregnancy, fetal development, five months pregnant, gender baby, gender prediction, lanugo, morning sickness, nuchal test, ovaries, pregnancy, pregnancy month 5, pregnancy month five, pregnancy month-by-month, pregnancy week 19, pregnancy week eighteen, pregnancy week nineteen, pregnancy week seventeen, pregnancy week twenty, pregnancy week-by-week, pregnant, second trimester, sonogram
Hi I am 32 year old and i am 13 week pregnant, i had been using anti depressant like flutop- 20 and cprom-20 before i got pregnant. i had also used them for the first month of pregnancy, with out knowing that i am pregnant. i will heard that there will be birth defect such as congenital heart problem. What other defect will the baby have?
My 38 year old daughter had a hysterectomy several years ago . A new type without removeing the uterus but removeing the lineing. She has had severe abd pain witch the doctors she went to stated it was her apendect and gave med, and then a Lap/scope for removal althought she had no temp and her wbc were low. She continued to have severe lower abd pain, today her husband took her to the ER in Dallas due to the fact she was in awful pain and a rush of water ran from her soaking her legs and the floor. They did a ultrasound and found out she is 5 month pregnant. They are trying to dilate her now with meds to induce her to abord the baby. If the baby could not embed the egg into the uterine lineing/What happen, The baby according to the ultra sound was a full 5 month old with legs and arms
head. What can happen to her and the baby, does it have a chance without the amneotic fluid. How and where was the baby attached?
i've will like to keep myself anouyms but a friend of mind just lost a baby two weeks ago and she's determined to have another baby right away and that mean today or tomorrow she just want this baby so bad i think she is putting her health in dangerous and as a friend i need the right words to go to her with and she's not thinking, she talking out of her head and saying crazy stuff like she wish it was her instead of her 4month old baby i think she needs some councel.
Suggest to your friend to read about loss and how to cope. Offer to go to a doctors appointment with her and tell the doctor how she's coping, he may suggest counceling, or another method of dealing with her recent loss. She's in denial about her loss, and won't tell the doctor the needed information to help her cope or get through life. Let her know you are concerned about her, and future children she may be considering. Also, It's healthy mentally or physically, to try to "replace" a recently deceased child, she needs time to heal both emotionally and physically.
