Nail care during pregnancy isn't that different than it usually is. Getting a pregnancy manicure or putting nail polish on your pregnant nails is usually fine - just make sure you avoid really bad fumes at the salon.
Manicures and pedicures are a fun indulgence. Do you have to give that luxury up now that you’re expecting? The short answer to this question will definitely make you feel good: No! There is little to no evidence that the chemicals in nail polish can reach or harm your fetus, either through your skin or by your breathing them in. You will, however, want to make sure that the salon you visit has good ventilation. This is for your sake, not the baby’s, as heightened senses during pregnancy may make you sensitive to the smell of nail polish. If you prefer to have acrylic nails applied during pregnancy, this too, is probably safe. Although small amounts of acrylic chemicals may be absorbed through the skin during the process, it is virtually impossible that they would reach or harm your baby. Changed body chemistry, however, means that you may have an allergic reaction to the nails and have to deal with a skin rash. If you’re not bothered by this, however, it’s fine to indulge yourself while you’re pregnant!
